Types

To infinitive

A to-finite clause uses "to" + "base verb" to show the purpose.

Bare infinitive

A bare infinitive clause uses just the verb, often after verbs like "make" or "help".

• He "helped prepare" the meal.

Present Participle

A present participle uses the verb ending in "-ing" for ongoing actions.

• Ali walked home singing a song.
• I, writing an essay, ignored the noise

Past Participle

A past participle clause uses the past form of a verb to show a completed action
